Aviation Parts and MRO

Custody that travels with the part, not the paperwork.

Parts move between manufacturers, distributors, repair stations and operators on release certificates. The certificate describes a part. Nothing binds it to the part in hand.

NOANE is designed to make the physical part a participant in every custody handoff.

Direct Answer

What NOANE does for aviation parts.

NOANE is a patented custody protocol designed to bind an aircraft part to a custody record. Each handoff is designed to need both the part and the authorized holder, so an auditor, repair station or operator can check that the part on the bench is the part the record describes. It is designed to work alongside FAA Form 8130-3, EASA Form 1 and existing ERP and MRO records, not to replace them.

The Exposure

Paper can separate from the part.

Release documentation is checked by people, at handoffs, after the fact. When the paperwork and the part drift apart, the cost lands on whoever cannot prove custody.

Forged documentation

In February 2026 the UK Serious Fraud Office secured a prison sentence for the director of AOG Technics, which sold more than 60,000 engine parts with forged or doctored release certificates.

Grounded aircraft

When a part's history cannot be confirmed, the part comes off the aircraft and the aircraft waits.

Records that cannot be tested

Rotable and life-limited parts change hands many times. Each record is a claim about a past handoff, checked against other claims.

The question is not whether the certificate looks right. It is whether this part was present when custody changed.

Certificate vs Custody

A certificate describes. Custody proves.

A release certificate states what a part is and that it was released. Custody is a different question: who holds the part now, and was the part itself present at each handoff.

Release paperwork today

Describes the part at release
Travels separately from the part
Checked by people at each handoff
Can be forged or altered

Custody, as NOANE is designed

Binds the record to the part
Needs the part and the holder to agree
Records every authorized handoff
Checkable by machine at any point

NOANE adds a custody event alongside the release certificate. It does not replace it.

Designed for Every Hand the Part Passes Through

Who it is for.

Capabilities the protocol is designed to enable. Not all are built today.

Manufacturers

Identity provisioned at manufacture. A custody record that starts with the part, not the first sale.

Distributors and brokers

Sell parts whose custody history can be checked. Show continuity through every intermediary.

Repair stations and MROs

Confirm the part on the bench is the part on record before work starts. Add each repair to its history.

Operators and lessors

Check rotables and life-limited parts at receipt. Carry history across transitions between operators.

Quality and audit teams

Review a signed custody trail instead of reconstructing one from paper.

Insurers and financiers

Collateral and claims tied to a specific part and its custody history.

On the Record

A part's life on the record.

How the protocol is designed to follow a part from manufacture to retirement.

01

Register

The part receives its identity at manufacture.

02

Bind

That identity is bound to a custody record.

03

Release

The release certificate is linked to the record.

04

Transfer

The part and the authorized holder both sign the handoff.

05

Install

The operator verifies the part at receipt.

06

Repair

Each repair station adds its work to the history.

07

Retire

A scrapped or life-limited part is retired, and its record shows it out of service.

Aviation parts use continuous custody mode: every transfer is designed to require both signatures before custody changes. No deferred settlement.

Limits

What NOANE does not do.

NOANE does not replace FAA or EASA release documentation, airworthiness determinations or your quality system. A chip signature is not proof that a part is airworthy. NOANE is designed to supply custody evidence those programs can use.

There is no aviation deployment today. This page describes the protocol design and the scope we are developing toward.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

Does NOANE replace the FAA 8130-3 or EASA Form 1?

No. The release certificate stays. NOANE is designed to add a custody event alongside it, so the part itself takes part in each handoff.

How would a chip attach to a part?

It depends on the part and its environment: a tag, a plate or an enclosure. That design work is part of a pilot.

Is NOANE a blockchain project?

No. NOANE is a custody protocol. The custody record is designed to sit on a ledger so any authorized party can check it, but the point is the custody event, not the ledger.

Who holds the keys?

The part's key is designed to stay in its chip, and the authorized holder keeps their own transfer key. Neither alone is designed to move the record.
